About me
Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy in Colorado
Hi, I’m Julia. I’m an art therapist and clinical mental health counselor. I began my career as a makeup artist, helping people express themselves outwardly. Over time, I felt called to support people in a deeper way, and to help them feel at home in their inner world, not just their outer image. That calling led me to art therapy, a practice that blends creativity, neuroscience, and compassion.
My style is collaborative, creative, and affirming. I work especially well with people who feel the world doesn’t quite fit the way their brain works. Many of my clients live with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, or burnout from years of trying to manage overwhelming demands. Therapy with me is not about fixing you. It’s about making space for your story, your emotions, and the pace that feels right for you.
In sessions, we might talk, make art, pause in silence, or notice what’s happening in your body. Sometimes words are enough; other times images, symbols, and materials offer a safer way in. Research shows that trauma and complex emotions are often stored nonverbally. Art therapy helps bring those experiences into awareness without pressure to explain them, while also calming the nervous system and building regulation skills.
As someone who has lived with ADHD, anxiety, and depression, I understand how difficult traditional talk therapy can feel. I know what it’s like to want change but get caught in cycles of shame or overload. Because of that, I’m committed to offering approaches that actually fit how your brain works.
Clients often describe my therapy as both steady and expansive. Steady because the session is calming and paced to your needs. Expansive because art opens up new possibilities for expression, meaning-making, and choice. Even simple creative decisions; Choosing a color, shaping clay, deciding when to pause, can restore a sense of agency and control.
My approach is trauma-informed, and I draw from expressive arts, parts work, somatic practices, and cognitive tools. Whether you’re navigating ADHD, anxiety, or relational wounds, my goal is to help you reconnect with yourself, your emotions, and others in a way that feels sustainable.
